Wow, how the time flies. It seems like just yesterday that I setup the “Official and Mighty Blog of List Here” to share all of the crazy stuff being posted to my little ol’ site. Well, sometimes in this world things don’t move as quickly as you would like, but never-the-less we’re here now. A lot has changed on ListHere.com since my last post, which I’d like to share with you now.

Aside from a complete face lift to the site which took out the drab browns we also added a ton of cool new functionality. There is now a global search that kicks butt, as well as the ability to key in a city, state, or zip code upon entry to the site (for those who don’t want to worry with the State > City selector.

You still have the ability to post a free ad to the site as an Anonymous or a Registered user, though we’ve beefed up the functionality here to make registered users a little bit more cool than before. The thinking here is that we don’t want too many spammy posts on the site, so if a user isn’t willing to take 15 seconds to register we make sure they don’t ruin the party for anyone else.

What else is there, you ask? Well, in the next week we’ll be setting up more “Neighborhoods” for you to browse through. We realized that a lot of cities and even zip codes don’t really cut it for a search… maybe you live in a neighborhood that has 2 or 3 zip codes you want to search, or maybe you just don’t feel like driving 30 miles for a new “whatever” item and want to limit your search in a smart way. Neighborhoods fix this problem by allowing users to e-mail us with their definitions of a neighborhood. As an example, the neighborhood of “Sugarhouse” here in Utah is now set to pull in all listings from 84105 and 84106, while “The Avenues” is set to 84101 and 84102. We hope this is the first step in a smarter way to search for different things.

You still want more? Sure thing. Unlike other free online classifieds, we also grant you the capability to – drumroll please – search multiple cities, states, and combination’s thereof. This means that if you’re looking for a new job but are open to possibilities that you can search for “Network Operations” in Los Angeles, Florida, and Ohio all from one search. This capability is working for absolutely any type of search you’d like, so go nuts.

On top of this functionality, we have also introduced what we call “online ads”. This is a paid only type of listing that will only show if you want it. On the left-hand side of your navigation you’ll see an indicator showing “All”, “Offline”, and “Online”. The online ads are paid at $0.10 a click to an advertisers site, and only show up if you want them to. We think this gives you an added bonus because maybe you’re looking for something and you’re actually willing to get it shipped. If you were on another site you’d have to open a new tab and go to all that trouble. With List Here you can click on a listing, see if you like it, and if so go on to the advertisers website.

Outside of this, we’ve also added some fantastic reporting for our Premium Business users – that’s local Mom and Pop shops to you. These reports let these users see who is searching for their products, clicking on their ads, opening their “View Seller Info” box, and submitting leads. As an added bonus, online type listings can also contain a “Destination URL”, which will allow for added tagging to be in place to tie into your back-end systems, i.e., “http://www.listhere.com?utm_source=classifieds.

That’s all for now, we’re excited to get things going and ramp up the amount of listings on the site, so check back often!

Hello Visitor,

This is Bifford Malibu writing to you from the comfort of a room full of cheese. I’m a pretty big fan of cheese, but that isn’t the reason I’m writing at this moment. No, while cheese is an important subject that most Americans are in dire need of knowing more about, I am writing to you about ListHere.com.

What is List Here? It’s a freakin’ awesome site that allows you, John C. Consumer, or Mary “Flo” Consumer, to post any type of crazy stuff that you want.

Maybe you’re selling a boot. Maybe you’re selling an entire pair (you go, high roller!), or perhaps you’re a serious member of society looking for great deals on local chairs, planes, trains, automobiles, or anything else you could possibly sell (Note: The sale of organs is currently prohibited on List Here, though I’m working on it!).

The great part about List Here? It’s FREE! Yes, that is a beautiful word, isn’t it? And I’m not talking free like when a guy at the bar tells you he’ll give you a free kiss and all you can think about is sheen of sweat you see on his face or his distended belly. I’m talking free as in “Hey, that’s an awesome value!”. Not since I was offered Free Tibet as a young man has anything this momentous been offered for the low price of Free Dollars and fifty-free cents.

So mosey on over to ListHere.com to post a free classified ad or to browse our listings. Everything is local, so you won’t have to deal with crazy ass shipping rates or any of that jazz.

Also, remember to book mark this page, as I am probably the coolest person you will ever have the opportunity to virtually meet. More on that and my favorite posts are to come, but for now you must wait, my sweets!

:Bifford out.
